Last week (Thursday, 21 June) Dutch Cycling Embassy received a delegation from Switzerland. 14 people from EPB Schweiz attended presentations of DCE cycling experts Johan Diepens (Mobycon) and Folkert Piersma (ProRail) in The Hague.

With a group of colleagues working in various positions, the company travelled to The Netherlands for a study visit to learn more about cycling-inclusive planning. In a lively presentation with much room for interaction, Johan Diepens (Mobycon) focused on the history of Dutch cycling-inclusive culture, infrastructure and road design. After Johan’s presentation, Folkert Piersma (ProRail) talked about the integration of cycling with other forms of transport, especially from its area of expertise; improving bicycle parking facilities and solving bicycle parking problems at train stations. Delegates from EBP Schweiz came up with examples and questions that resulted in a fruitful discussion about the differences between The Netherlands and Switzerland mostly on themes as public transport and cycling planning in cities.

We are convinced EBP Schweiz and the Dutch cycling experts had a fruitful interactive meeting. Dutch Cycling Embassy looks forward to share experiences in the future!
